Resolving to…

Just about a week into the New Year now, I find myself reflecting on past New Year’s resolutions. I can’t seem to remember any though I’m sure there have been some. I like to take this resolution thing month by month; maybe that’s why I can’t remember any specific resolutions.
As our hockey rink stands frigid and skateable, I am thinking of adding a bit more physical exercise into my years, not just this new one. As most people will attest to, more activity makes you feel better and gets you out and about. It may even shed a few pounds for you if you remember not to reward yourself for exercising with a piece of Boston Crème pie or something. This is usually where my play goes awry, and I don’t mean bread but it sure would be tasty!
So if you’re like me and can’t stick to a whole year of one resolution, sit back and take it month my month, or week by week, or day by day. If you must, just take it hour by hour sometimes. It makes the most sense to me since a year is a relatively long time when you’re talking about changing, adding or subtracting habits. Habits take time to make and to break.
With the help of my son, I have added a lot more skating and knowledge of the game of hockey. I can’t skate more than a figure 8, but the young one is teaching me some defensive moves on the ice, and in life!

You and me both on the weight thing… it took me less than 2 weeks to put on probably 30 pounds and now it will be 30 weeks to take it off…
By the way, you don’t leave that little guy in the hockey goal outside overnight in the frigid weather do you?
